Olszewo Węgorzewskie [ɔlˈʂɛvɔ vɛnɡɔˈʐɛfskʲɛ] (German: Olschöwen, from 1938 to 1945 Kanitz) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Budry, within Węgorzewo County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, close to the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia.[1] It is located in Masuria.[2] It lies approximately 11 km (7 mi) north-west of Budry, 10 km (6 mi) north of Węgorzewo, and 100 km (62 mi) north-east of the regional capital Olsztyn.
Olszewo was founded in 1562 by Maciej Olszewski.[3][2]
