Hedayet Ahmed

Hedayet Ahmed (died 2001) was a diplomat and the former Ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia.[1] He was a secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.[2]

Early life

Ahmed completed his master's in economics at Jahangirnagar University in 1976.[3] He is a member of the Bangladesh Economics Association.[3]

Career

Ahmed was a deputy secretary in the civil service of Pakistan in 1971 at the time of the Bangladesh Liberation War.[4]

On 7 February 1983, Ahmed was appointed as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Egypt, replacing Lieutenant General Mir Shawkat Ali.[5] Ali was then appointed ambassador of Bangladesh to Germany.[6] On 6 August 1985, M Siddiqur Rahman replaced him as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Egypt.[5]

Ahmed was appointed ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia on 1 August 1985, replacing Mohammad Mohsin.[7] Quazi Golam Dastgir replaced him as the ambassador on 2 February 1988.[7]

Ahmed was the President of the University of Asia Pacific.[8] He had worked for UNESCO in Bangkok.[9]
